Tropical Storm Aletta Forms in the East Pacific

Just a few hours before the official start of 2012 East Pacific Hurricane Season, we already have our first named storm, Aletta. Tropical Storm Aletta is currently a minimal tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of only 40 miles per hour. Conditions are marginally favorable for continued intensification over the next 24 hours before wind shear increases. Aletta will continue to move off to the West/WNW and slowly dissipate over the next few days.

Also in the Atlantic Ocean, former invest 92L located near the Azore Islands has been deactivated. This means development is no longer expected with this system, and is now not worth monitoring. The Atlantic Hurricane Season officially begins June 1st, but some computer models are hinting that we will have an early storm form in the Western Caribbean. I will continue to monitor this area for any new information.
